Recently, we had a visit at our lodges, from an accomplished Wildlife Biologist : Johnathan O’dell; Migratory Gamebird Biologist, with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Terrestrial Branch, in Phoenix, AZ. He had a great stay with us and was able to look around and share some of his science knowledge about the dove behavior. Below is a small portion of his thorough report explaining the slight movement in birds.

Monitoring of Roosts and Movements: I know there is great concern over the roosts having moved approximately 6 years ago. It would appear this phenomenon isn’t limited to just Córdoba since reports of this occurred in several South American countries, as well as the southwestern United States around the same time. While it is unclear why this may have occurred, the potential triggers could include large scale environmental factors such as climate change or even geomagnetic factors since doves are particularly attuned to it. Since those factors are not anything we can control, we have to look at a more local scale and focus on the roosts themselves, as well as the habitat conditions.
